Anesthesia-releasing contact lenses

Scientists from the University of Florida have developed contact lenses that can provide users with a continuous supply of anesthetics to the eye post-surgery. Instead of wearing the normal “bandage contact lens” after surgery, the new lenses will be have stored anesthetics that release automatically over a set period of time. The inclusion of vitamin E to the lenses extends the time of release of common anesthetics from less than 2 hours to over a day.
