Cyberdyne HAL Robot Suit and Cybernics Research

Cyberdyne, a Japanese company that makes power assisted exoskeletons is working on improving its technology. At the Cybernics International Forum 2011, the company exhibited a new robot suit named HAL that claims to strengthen and augment human capabilities. The device is able to detect bioelectric signals from the brain to move its joints in coordination with the wearer’s muscles. It has potential for use in health care settings for lifting patients and other heavy objects and to assist patients in walking and other motor skills.
