Prof. Ming-Shing Young from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Taiwan has led a research team to develop a first-generation prototype of a proactive cancer treatment system. The system uses nano-magnetic particles to raise temperatures of a tumor to 41.5-46 degrees Celsius, thereby killing malignant cells while preserving normal ones. A 3D endoscope helps to provide accuracy and precision to reduce operating time and pain.
