Middle Ear Microphone

Traditional cochlear implants usually involve multiple external components that inconvenience users when performing daily activities. A new implant under development by researchers at the University of Utah hopes to be more durable, kid-friendly, and fashionable. The device will involve a tiny microphone placed in the middle ear that uses accelerometer technology to detect vibrations and convert them into discernible sounds.
