“Swimming” Capsule Endoscope

Scientists from Japan have developed a remotely-operated, self-propelled capsule endoscope, the “Mermaid”. The device is capable of “swimming” through a patient’s digestive tract and capturing photographs of areas of concern. The Mermaid is propelled by its tail fin and controlled remotely with a joystick.
