Seniors at Northeastern University have developed a robotic feeding arm that can help paralyzed individuals feed themselves. The iCRAFT (eye Controlled Robotic Arm Feeding Technology) allows for contact-free communication between the user and robotic arm. The user simply looks at rectangles on a computer screen that corresponds to different foods or drinks and the iCRAFT will scoop the selected food and bring it to the user’s mouth. Using pupil tracking technology, the iCRAFT can detect which food was selected. The software and robotics plans for the system are free and open-source for anyone to download and build.
