Nanowires in a breathalyzer help detect disease

Stony Brook University researchers have developed a breathalyzer that can detect biomarkers pointing to underlying diseases and disorders.  The device contains tiny nanowires that help detect chemical compounds in a single exhale.  The researchers hope the device will soon be available over-the-counter to help people “take charge of their own health”.
