A shoemaker from New Jersey has teamed up with GTX Corp from Los Angeles to develop a shoe with embedded GPS technology to track users. Caregivers looking after patients with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or any other cognitive condition will now be able to easily find a person who may have wandered away or gotten lost. The sneaker-like shoe, which is available from Aetrex Worldwide Inc., is rechargeable and embedded with GPS tracking mechanisms. A monthly fee is required for location alerts at regular intervals and customers can set virtual boundaries to get alerts whenever a user leaves a safety zone.
