Scientists from Switzerland and Netherlands have developed the world’s smallest car via nanotechnology. The autonomous car with four-wheel drive is made of only a single molecule and it is noiseless and emission free. The four wheels are driven by electric currents over a copper surface. The 4 x 2 nanometer car still needs to be refueled electrically after each half revolution of the wheels and the wheels can currently only turn in a single direction. Researchers hope to further develop the nano car to eventually be able to deliver tiny therapeutic loads and to understand the development of more advanced future robots.
