Hybrid 3D Printer Prints Cartilage

biofabricationA new hybrid printer takes 3D printing to the next level by creating implantable cartilage. The printer combines a traditional ink jet printer with an electrospinning machine to allow for the printing of natural and synthetic materials. The natural materials help cell growth while synthetic materials provide strength. The machine uses electrical currents to make fine fibers from a polymer solution that are then manipulated to create porous structures.
