Misfit Wearables from California has developed the Shine, an activity tracker to help promote “simple healthy living.” The Shine is tiny disc, approximately the size of a quarter, that is made out of super strong aircraft-grade aluminum. Using algorithms, the device tracks steps, bike pedals and even swim strokes since it is waterproof and can be worn on the wrist or hooked onto a piece of clothing. By tapping on the device, users can check to see how close they are to achieving their activity goal for the day. Syncing to a smartphone uses no cables or docking stations. Instead, users simply place the Shine on the smartphone screen and it syncs automatically.
