Sonar System to Help the Blind

sonarHebrew University of Jerusalem researchers have developed a “sonar vision” device to help the blind convert images into sound. The system uses an embedded video camera,  a pair of eyeglasses, a laptop and headphones. Though requiring approximately 70 hours of specialized training in order to identify shapes, the system can help users perceive visual information and even read words or letters.
