Researchers from the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the University of Zurich are developing a “service robot” to help people in daily activities. The advanced humanoid robot, or “Roboy” as the developers are calling it, is tendon-driven and modeled on the joints of human beings. The finished product will be able to move as elegantly as a human body. Roboy will also be covered with soft “skin”, which will make it more safe and pleasant to interact with. The robot is projected to be used in many areas including hospitals and care homes.
