Humanoid Robots for Autism Therapy

We previously introduced the NAO robot in June 2012 as a next generation humanoid robot. Recently, researchers from Vanderbilt University have taken the NAO robot developed by Aldebaran Robotics in France to help children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).  Studies have shown that children followed exercise prompts and responded positively to the NAO robot. The team uses computers and external cameras to track the child’s movements while interacting with the robot.
