3D Printed Cast Adds Comfort for Wearers

Gone are the days of smelly and itchy limbs due to plaster casts. Jake Evill, a graduate from Victoria University of Wellington, has designed the Cortex, a 3D printed cast. The new cast is custom printed using scans of the patient’s arm and is made of material that is lighter and more durable than plaster. The wearer’s limb would be well ventilated and the Cortex is fully washable. The cast is also environmentally friendly as the material can be recycled and reused for a new Cortex.
