A group of researchers have created a telescopic contact lens that allows users to magnify details of their surroundings by 2.8 times. Paired with special glasses that contain polarizing filters, users can switch between normal and telescopic vision easily. The tricky part of development is creating a contact lens that is “breathable,” allowing oxygen to reach the eye. According to the researchers, improved versions of the contact lens are in development and will be tested in November. Researchers aim to apply the new lenses in healthcare for individuals with age-related sight problems and to improve vision in general.
