A team from Technion-Israel Institute of Technology has developed a new technique to make artificial skin or “e-skin” super sensitive. The new skin will be able to detect touch as well as humidity and temperature. The researchers used gold-based nanoparticles embedded in PET plastic to conduct electricity. The flexible material can be made thicker or thinner to adjust the sensitivity of the e-skin. Researchers envision the e-skin to be used in future prosthetic limbs or advanced robots.
