A Virtual Surgical Table to Train Medical Students

For centuries, the primary means of teaching Anatomy students about the human body involved bringing a cadaver into the classroom and dissecting it for students to see. However, obtaining cadavers if often expensive and difficult, not to mention some of the ethical dilemmas that this practice might cause. To help remedy these problems, researchers at Stanford University have developed an interactive, touch-screen virtual dissection table. Watch the video above to see Jack Choi demonstrate how to use the dissection table and the unique features the table has that go beyond traditional cadaver dissection.
