A device over 20 years in the making, First Warning System is the first ever cancer-detecting bra. The technology works by having women wear the bra for at least 12 hours underneath their usual clothing. During this time the First Warning System monitors the changes in cellular activity in the breast. Developers believe that the non-invasive nature of the device will be especially useful for women under the age of 40 who have not yet had a mammogram or women with dense breasts, for whom small masses in the breast often go undetected by traditional mammograms.
