3D Printed Cast Delivers Ultrasound Therapy

Osteoid-MedicalIndustrial designer Deniz Karasahin is working to improve the modern cast. He has proposed a design for a 3d printed cast that will be lightweight and breathable. The 3d printed cast would be modeled after the wearer’s own limbs and printed out of plastic with metal components to better position the injured limb. In addition, this new 3d cast would have an interface that allows for patients to receive ultrasound therapy to the limb while wearing the cast. The result is a lightweight, breathable cast that allows a patient’s injury to heal more quickly and completely.
