Canada’s Astroskin Tested in Antarctica

astroskinThe conditions in Antarctica are very similar to those astronauts experience while aboard the International Space Station: small, isolated teams with very little support have to navigate through perilous conditions. It is for this reason that researchers at the University of Quebec, Montreal are testing the real-time monitoring t-shirt, Astroskin, in Antarctica before having Canadian Astronauts use the technology in space.

The t-shirt is washable and features attachable sensors that measure anything “you can have in the ICU at the bedside.” So far the explorers who have tested the device in Antarctica have been pleased with the product, finding it easy to use and comfortable– a huge convenience during difficult missions.
