Israel-based Nuvo Group has released a belt-like monitor that can be used to track a baby’s development in the womb. The PregSense is equipped with monitors to measure the baby’s kicks, heartbeat, and position in the womb. The device is worn around the belly, and the data collected is transmitted to the user’s smartphone where it can be shared with a physician. The PregSense is unique not only for its wearability and ease of use, but unlike other baby monitors, the PregSense uses passive electrical sensors rather than ultrasound. While PregSense is being developed primarily for in-office use, expecting parents will be able to purchase a commercial version known as Ritmo Beats for $250 in late 2015.
