The Portable NeuroModulation Stimulator (PoNS) developed by NeuroHabilitation aims to treat brain injuries by stimulating nerves on a patient’s tongue. The electronic, battery-powered device targets traumatic brain injury by using nerve endings on the tongue to communicate with the brain. Users bite down on the PoNS while completing a series of personalized exercises while the stimulation to nerves on the tongue helps to repair neural connections.
